Supreme Court’s ruling against TREB will impact mortgage brokering
After seven years of legal wrangling between the Toronto Real Estate Board and the Competition Bureau, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled late last week against hearing the Toronto Real Estate Board’s appeal to keep sold data access closed, which means that the country’s largest real estate board can no longer limit how brokers use the data in its multiple-listing service.
What does it mean to home buyers?
In this case, Toronto-area home buyers will benefit from the transparency in the housing market and gain greater access to real estate information, including transaction records for properties, prices trends, listings histories and not limited to track records for the agents.
