Tuesday Tips For You
June 16, 2020
Over the past few months, hundreds of clients have been experiencing uncertainty in their lives and careers. Job loss and income interruption have been causing anxieties and are difficult problems to cope with. If you own a home, one of the biggest bills that’s worrying you is your mortgage right now. Our team of Monsters is here to assist and empathize in an uncertain time. A few tips to get you by until crisis passes:
- Keep friends and family informed of your situation. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help. Everyone understands the current circumstances and most will offer a helping hand.
- Be aware of the support programs available to you. Whether it’s a federal government income supplement, provincial order for hydro payment deferral, or municipal property tax payment relief – take advantage of it. All mortgage lenders are providing mortgage payment deferrals. Loan and credit card companies are providing assistance. Take advantage of all that apply to you.
- Review your bank statements and credit card bills and eliminate all unnecessary subscriptions, monthly charges, and memberships. Personal budgeting is trending and key to identifying “needs and wants.” Get rid of non-requirements during this time.
- If you are calling your lender – try to prepare for the phone call. Be courteous, the individuals helping you are doing their best in a new scenario they’ve never experienced before. Have your documents ready and questions prepared in advance to go through the process as smoothly as possible.
